Innovative concepts In the classical Schumpeterian meaning of the term innovation refers to a situation where new (substantially different from current stay of play) ideas are *successfully applied in practice*. There is a clear distinction to be made between invention and innovation, where the latter implies practical exploitation, market performance expectation and consequently economic growth in any size. Therefore a novelty, a change or an improvement is only an innovation when it is put to use and effectively causes a social or commercial reorganization, whatever it belongs to niche or large consumer market.
